About the movement in KSA (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) to give women the right to drive cars. Yep that's right, even women with MD's and PhD's who operate on people and are university prof's can't drive:

I think that arguments like these, demonstrating the Muslim practice of treating women distinctly and perhaps as inferior, is the worst argument against Islam. I.e. this does not "prove" Islam wrong. I myself do not buy into modernist feminism and am certainly a sexist. While I might find certain Islamic practices abhorrent, I might also find the practices of some Christians abhorrent (when to comes to the treatment of women). Yet, I would still embrace the latter as my brothers in the faith, and exhort the former to conversion.
I think I meant "weakest argument". That gets the idea across more correctly.
Please do not compare Islam's treatment of women to Christianity's. Man! Islam is the pits. Women are treated like chattel and still to the world it is pronounced that women are equal to men. I have seen in Bombay (India) Muslim men in the latest jeans ogling women while riding bikes while their women sitting pillion are covered from head to toe in burkhas. Hypocricy thy name is Islam.
Rob: I added no commentary, and the link was simply to an article from a secular (and somewhat liberal one might add) international news source (the IHT). It was intended to be simply news from the heart of Dar al Islam.
Sorry. No offense intended. I only wanted to register my discomfort with these arguments, regardless of who issues them. I am no tyrranical sexist (I feed, change, and care for my own kids, do laundry, etc).
But I don't want to make allies with some people who simultaneously make this argument as well as other arguments that are even more distasteful (many "pro-woman" voices are also pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, pro-homosexuality, etc.).
