Islam and "a shameless display of hypocrisy"

From Shoaib Nasir, an ex-Muslim:

...under Islamic law one could not preach any other religion in the country [Pakistan]. However when Muhammadans went to other countries, they wanted (and still do with even more fervor) the freedom to practicew, preach, and convert others. I can say with the utmost confidence that I have never seen such a shameless of hypocrisy in any other ideology.

(In Ibn Warraq ed, 2004, p 251.)

It's an expression they use when they are describing a course of action by people whose motives are not clear but who are certain that they are right, even though the result is dubious.

In this case, it seems to me that many Muslims are simply blind to the contradiction, and proceed with the call for freedom to spread the religion in the dar-al-harb and the end of outbound conversion in the dar-al-salaam.

The sad truth is that there are too many movements in our world today which have the same idea. They begin by proclaiming freedom but end by imposing totalitarianism. It was the message of George Orwell's Animal Farm, and can be applied to the whole spectrum of PC movements we see in the world today (esp. the LGBT one.)
