Second Council of Orange (529) on Double Predestination
We not only do not believe that any are foreordained to evil by the power of God, but even state with utter abhorrence that if there are those who want to believe so evil a thing, they are anathema.
As you may have divined from my blog, I'm rereading the City of God.
I'll try to elucidate more about this when I'm done, but it's evident that his position on the subject requires an understanding of the underlying Greek philosophy behind it, something the Reformers jettisoned in their formulation of classical Reformed theology.
