Council of Europe promotes Islamization of Europe

Read all about it here.

Resolution 1605 of the Council of Europe

Council of Europe member states should continue to be vigilant in their work to prevent and combat the phenomenon of Islamophobia.

9. In light of the above, the Assembly calls on the member states of the Council of Europe to:

9.1. act strongly against discrimination in all areas;

9.2. condemn and combat Islamophobia;

9.7.6. encouraging the participation of people with an immigrant background in political parties, trade unions and non-governmental organisations;

9.7.7. taking all the necessary measures to eliminate the inequality of opportunity faced by immigrants, including unemployment and inadequate education;

9.7.8. removing unnecessary legal or administrative obstacles to the construction of a sufficient number of appropriate places of worship for the practice of Islam;

9.7.9. ensuring that school textbooks do not portray Islam as a hostile or threatening religion;

11.6. encourage young European Muslims to become imams;

11.8. encourage the promotion of fair coverage of Muslim reality and views in the media and ensure that the voice of moderate Muslims is also reported;

11.9. develop ethical guidelines to combat Islamophobia in the media and in favour of cultural tolerance and understanding, in co-operation with appropriate media organisations;

And while you're at it, go find a needle in a haystack! LOL

I shouldn't laugh. Their suicidal blindness is sad.

It really is just disastrous and so sad to hear pabulum like this.

Hey hey gentlemen, is this an instance of Euro-bashing by some Americans?

What are the WRONG decisions of the EU that you mention here?

I would only argue that to counter Islamophobia is silly; the rest of the matters mentioned, what is wrong with this?

Mind you, the EU is worried about its own Muslim citizens. That is the cuty of government.

John,

-condemn and combat Islamophobia-

Are they combating anti-Catholicism? (no)

-ensuring that school textbooks do not portray Islam as a hostile or threatening religion-

Are they ensuring that Catholicism is not so portrayed? (no, and it is portrayed as evil in ALL textbooks, even in some Catholic schools in the US)

-encourage young European Muslims to become imams-

Are they going to encourage young men to become priests, pastors, rabbis? (no)

-encourage the promotion of fair coverage of Muslim reality and views in the media and ensure that the voice of moderate Muslims is also reported-

Do they promote fair coverage of Catholicism? (no)

In short, why are governments protecting Islam?

The answer: because they are afraid of Muslims. And well they should be.

This is the same way "enlightened" Europeans reacted to Hitler: he was just a disturbed man with legitimate grievances who could be "assimilated" into gentle society.

Rob, I am very anti-Islamic, and I agree that the EU should not interfere in these issues. I am just slightly fed up that northamericans seem to enjoy criticizing Europe for its policies. Start looking at your own policies. Was it not George W. who said that Islam is a religion of peace?

By the eay, if you look at all preambules of these EU statements, you'll see how strongly they are condemning fundamentalist Islam.

Why does the EU hope for Euro-educated imams? Because we are fed up with the idiots we get from the Arab World. The issue is not that the EU wants to educate more imams. The issue is that we want to get rid of the fundis.

So to say that the council of europe PROMOTES the islamization of Europe... come on give me a break...

Well, with the mention of George Bush, I can only respond by saying, "Touche'" :-)

However, isn't the idea of "encouragement" ridiculous? Isn't it obvious that this is just another form of appeasement? The best resolution is vigorously prosecuting Islamic aggression. I don't recall anyone being sympathetic to the IRA, but for Muslims Europe is ready to bend over backwards, apparently.

John Stringer said...

Rob, a lot of Europeans were sympathetic to the IRA... but that does not matter now.

Do you not think that a good way to weaken the appeal of the IRA would have been to support moderate catholic priests, and develop the poor catholic neighborhoods? Or would that also be a policy that you would reject?

In my opinion, our answer to radical Islam, and Islam in general, must be evangelism. If we do this better, it also solves a few political problems. And I am hopeful. The impact of the Gospel in the Arab world is amazing these last 10 years.

Promoting moderate Islam is promoting Islamization. They are the same thing.

John Stringer said...

Hi Abu, I find that statement very hard to accept, because the EU wants to promote a moderate Islam AMONG NON-MODERATE MUSLIMS. Why would you call this the promotion of Islamization?

If you, when you meet a radical Muslim, show him that it is better to be a peaceful Muslim, have you then promoted Islam? I doubt it.

Abu Daoud said...

Hi John,

I have never seen moderate Islam. I have seen lax Muslims, but that is not the same as "moderate Islam". When I read about moderate Muslims in the press (ie, Tariq Ramadan) they are all Islamists who simply talk out of two sides of their mouths.

Also of concern is that the Council of Europe is not selected democratically.

This is not a case of Europe v. US. The situation is different in the US because the immigrants come mostly from Latin America which is almost entirely Christian.

Abu, as long as we christians fight each other tooth and nail over what a true christian is, I am not planning to decide what a true Muslim is. Let them fight over that for themselves. And we may see some interesting fights in the nead future, e.g. between Shia and Sunna... Our differences at Lambeth will seem sweet and mild compared to that!
