Martin Luther and Allah and Islam

Regarding the view that Muslims and Christians worship the same God:

Those Lutherans who would attribute such a view to Luther...seem to be revealing more about their own theology than rather than Luther's. In fact, in On War against the Turk, Luther identifies Allah as the devil.

-Luther identifies Allah as the devil.-

Finally I agree with that guy about something!

The article, which you can download in PDF form is quite fascinating and I recommend a full read.

That is quite a statement. Quite an insulting statement if one were to ask an Arabic-speaking Christian!

I'm currently plugging my new favorite book on Islam and Christianity. And feel compelled to do so here as well since it has one of the best treatments of the subject of the God of the Qur'an and the God of the Bible I have ever seen! Anyway, at this time, Bill Musk's "Kissing Cousins?" is the best book I have encountered that is written by a western Christian about Christianity and Islam. Check it out.

His peace to you,

Marahaba FTME,

You are right, but I think it is important to understand the variety of understandings of Islam throughout history.

If you write anything on "kissing cousins" let me know and I will link to it and/or post it.
